STANFORD, Calif. – Three-time defending national champion Stanford lightweight rowing competes in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships this weekend, which take place June 2-3 in West Windsor, New Jersey, seeking its fourth consecutive national title.
 
The Cardinal will be one of eight programs competing for the IRA team crown, along with Boston, Georgetown, Harvard-Radcliffe, MIT, Princeton, Wisconsin and Tulsa.
 
Stanford will race three boats in the competition: the nation's top-ranked varsity eight, a varsity four, and a lightweight double.
 
Racing begins Saturday morning, with Stanford's double racing in Heat 2 at 5:10 a.m. PT alongside Tulsa, Harvard-Radcliffe and Wisconsin. The top two boats in each heat will advance to Sunday's Grand Final, which is scheduled for 5 a.m. The second two boats in each heat will race in the Lightweight Double Repechage at 8:15 a.m for the chance to earn a spot in the Grand Final.
 
The Cardinal's varsity four will follow suit, competing in its race for lane assignments on Saturday at 5:20 a.m. Stanford will race Georgetown, Princeton, Boston, Harvard-Radcliffe, MIT and Wisconsin, with each boat advancing to Sunday's Grand Final, slated for 5:50 a.m.
 
Stanford's varsity eight begins its title defense Saturday morning immediately after the varsity four at 5:30 a.m. Its race for lanes will feature the same opponents as the varsity four, with all boats advancing to Sunday's Grand Final, which is scheduled for 8:20 a.m.
