Stanford Draws Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament First Round

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's lacrosse team will take on Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, as announced Sunday by the NCAA.

The Cardinal (13-5) will open the tournament on Friday, May 10 at 5 p.m. PT in Evanston, Ill. The winner of the Stanford-Notre Dame game will face the No. 2 seed Northwestern on Sunday, May 12 at 11 a.m. PT.

Stanford earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after claiming its eighth Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament title in nine years. The Cardinal defeated top-seeded Denver, 7-6, in the championship match Saturday in Eugene, Ore.

Hannah Farr was named the MPSF Tournament Most Outstanding Player and was joined on the all-tournament team by Lyndsey Munoz, Anna Kim, Lucy Dikeou and Elizabeth Adam.

The NCAA Tournament expanded in 2013 and will feature 26 teams - 13 automatic qualifying and 13 at-large teams. The top eight teams received first-round byes.
