Texas Visits Maples

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will be featured on national television early in its 2016-17 season. The Cardinal is scheduled to host Texas on Monday, November 14 at 5 p.m. PT in a game that has been selected for broadcast on ESPN2.

The matchup with the Longhorns adds to Stanford's already-announced schedule at the Cancun Challenge, which features games against Northeastern, Wichita State and Purdue over the Thanksgiving holiday. The remainder of the Cardinal's nonconference slate will be released in the coming weeks once all contracts have been finalized.

Stanford made its 18th overall trip to the Elite Eight and 10th in the last 13 years in 2015-16, posting a 27-8 overall record and a 14-4 mark in Pac-12 play. The Cardinal won 25 games for the 15th straight year and became the seventh Division I institution to reach the 1,000-victory plateau when it beat Oregon State on February 26.

This November will mark the fourth straight season, and sixth in the past seven, that Stanford has faced Texas. In the Longhorns' most recent visit to Maples Pavilion, Texas snapped the Cardinal's 28-game home winning streak with an 87-81 overtime win on November 20, 2014. Stanford traveled to Austin last December 13 and dropped a 77-69 decision despite cutting a 13-point, fourth-quarter deficit to four with 3:34 remaining. The Cardinal leads the overall series, 6-4, and is 2-1 against Texas in games played on The Farm.

The Longhorns were 31-5 in 2015-16 and made the school's first trip to the Elite Eight since 2002-03. Texas finished seventh in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll released after the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament while Stanford checked in at No. 11.
