Love and Bright earn All-America honors
12/12/2017 | Football
STANFORD, Calif. – Junior human biology major Bryce Love was named All-America first team by The Sporting News on Tuesday while fifth-year senior biomechanical engineering major David Bright earned second-team honors.

The accolade earned Love consensus All-America status, the 37th by a Cardinal.

Love paced Power 5 running backs in rushing yards, rushing yards/game, yards/carry and runs of 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards. His 12 runs of 50 or more yards this year is an FBS record, and his 11 100-yard rushing performances led the nation and tied a school record.

Bright helped pave the way for Love's record-breaking season, which included Love's school-record 301 yards rushing against Arizona State. Also an All-Pac-12 second-team performer, Bright was a finalist for the Pop Warner College Football Award and Campbell Trophy semifinalist.

Bright played every position except center during his career, and helped the Cardinal rush for 405 yards against UCLA, fourth-most in school history. Stanford's 565 total yards against Rice were seventh-most.

The Cardinal (9-4) won the Pac-12 North Division and will face TCU (10-3) in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28 in San Antonio, Texas. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. (PT), and ESPN will broadcast the game.
