POZNAN, Poland – Stanford junior Brennan Wertz is part of the United States men's eight that will compete for a gold medal Sunday at the Under 23 World Rowing Championships on Lake Malta.
Wertz, in the bow seat of the U.S. eight, helped guide USRowing to a win in its heat on Thursday with a time of 5:36.41. The U.S. advanced directly into Sunday's A Final, where it will face the Netherlands, Great Britain, Canada, Germany and Romania.
Sunday's A Final is scheduled for 4:40 a.m. PT. Live coverage of the event is available here.
Wertz, from Mill Valley, California, is the 24th Cardinal to compete as a member of the Under 23 USRowing national team since 2002. Stanford has had a representative at the international competition in each of the last 14 years.
