• This will be Stanford’s fourth-ever game in the Sunshine State (and first regular-season contest). The other three: 1986 Gator Bowl (vs. Clemson), 1993 Blockbuster Bowl (vs. Penn St) and the 2011 Orange Bowl (vs. Virginia Tech).
• Besides its annual rivalry with Notre Dame, Stanford’s last game in the eastern time zone was at Army in 2013. The Cardinal prevailed in that matchup, 34-20, also played on Sept. 14.
• Stanford has not allowed a first quarter touchdown in five consecutive games, dating back to the final three games of the 2018 season.
• Stanford is now 72-7 when leading at halftime under David Shaw and has won 56 of its last 59 games when leading after three quarters.
• Stanford plays arguably the nation’s toughest schedule in 2019. The Cardinal began the season against 2018 Big Ten West champs Northwestern, which was receiving votes in both preseason polls, before playing at USC who is No. 24 in both polls this week. The Cardinal still plays at No. 17/16 UCF, No. 15/17 Oregon, No. 23/21 Washington, at RV/RV Colorado, at No. 20/20 Washington State, RV/RV California and No. 7/7 Notre Dame.
• UCF has won 24 consecutive regular season games dating back to the 2017 season. Their only loss since the beginning of the 2017 season came in last year’s Fiesta Bowl to LSU. In that span, UCF is 27-1.
• UCF has won 16 straight at Spectrum Stadium. Their last loss came on Nov. 19, 2016 to Tulsa, 35-20.
• In that 2015 game, true freshman Bryce Love scored his first career touchdown, a highlight 93-yard reception. The defense held UCF to 39 total rushing yards on 29 attempts. Kevin Hogan threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns, including a 53-yard flea flicker touchdown to Michael Rector. Christian McCaffrey had 166 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown en route to his NCAA record-setting season.
