STANFORD, Calif. – Five accomplished gymnasts signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday and will join head coach Tabitha Yim and the Cardinal women's program next fall.
They are Grace Waguespack from Longwood, Florida, Madison Brunette from Seattle, Washington, Morgan Hoang from Sugar Land, Texas, Wesley Stephenson from Plainfield, Illinois, and Evelyn Micco from Scottsdale, Arizona.
"We are thrilled to welcome these outstanding student-athletes to The Farm," Yim said. "These young women have been relentless in their pursuit of excellence and worked with perseverance and sacrifice to achieve their dream of representing Stanford at the highest level. This is a diverse group who brings an exciting blend of power, artistry and grit to the competition floor. They are going to be a wonderful addition to the Stanford team, family and community."
Waguespack is a four-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier and was the Region 8 beam champion and all-around runner-up in 2015. She finished second in the uneven bars and third in floor at the 2013 Junior Olympics. Waguespack, who trains at Gymnastics USA, was also a USA Gymnastics National Qualifier in 2013.
Brunette is a five-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier. She trains at Emerald City Gymnastics Academy and was the 2017 Region 2 floor and all-around champion, and runner-up in the vault and uneven bars. In 2016, Brunette finished first in vault, uneven bars, beam, floor and all-around in Region 2. She also qualified for the 2014 Nastia Cup.
Hoang, who trains at the Houston Gymnastics Center, is a two-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier and was the Region 3 floor runner-up in 2017. She is a two-time member of the National Honor Society and co-president for Teens Assisting Special Kids.
Stephenson is a three-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier and was the 2017 Region 5 beam champion. She trains at Legacy Gymnastics and was the Region 5 beam and floor champion, and all-around runner-up in 2015. Stephenson was also the Junior Olympic national beam champion in 2014.
Micco is a three-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier and won the uneven bars competition at the 2017 Maccabiah Games. She trains with the Arizona Sunrays and was the 2017 State uneven bars champion while claiming runner-up in all-around, floor and vault.
