STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford's sailing team capped another impressive season in which the Cardinal claimed four conference championships and a sixth-place finish in the Fowle Trophy, an accumulation of all six Intercollegiate Sailing Association national championships.

Class of 2020Stanford welcomed four new faces to The Farm for the 2016-17 season. The Cardinal's class of 2020 includes crew Madeline Bubb (Newport Beach, Calif.), skipper Nestor Cano (Alella, Spain), crew Taylor Kirkpatrick (Portsmouth, R.I.) and skipper Jacob Rosenberg (Huntington Beach, Calif.).

Singlehanded ChampionshipsStanford earned four berths into the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships – William Marshall and Luke Muller on the men's side, and Haley Fox and Olivia Gugliemini in the women's field.

At the national championships, Marshall was Stanford's highest finisher in 11th place on the men's side, while Fox led the Cardinal with 13th place on the women's side. Muller added a 14th-place finish, and Gugliemini earned more Fowle Cup points with 15th place.Big SailStanford claimed its 12th consecutive Big Sail over California on November 16th, preserving Vandemoer's perfect record in the event since taking over the program. Muller and seniors Maeve White, Lauren Block, Quinn Vangelos and J.P. Cannistraro clinched the regatta for the Cardinal, winning the final race to win the varsity division, 2-1, and the overall competition, 3-1.

Alumni participants for Stanford were Alan Andrews (`77), Kim Desenberg (`69), Keith Milne (`76, `79), Joe McCoy (`78), Al Sargent (`91), Rolf Kaiser (`95), Dave Lyons (`90, `01), Peter Philips (`81), Kevin Laube (`14), Antoine Screve (`16), Yuri Namikawa (`14) and Eliza Richartz (`13).Spring PCCSC'sFor the eighth season in a row, Stanford swept the three Spring PCCSC conference championships – team, women and coed. Stanford started the spring championship series at the women's championship, where the Cardinal (96 points) narrowly defeated UC Santa Barbara (99) to take home the top spot.

At the coed championship, Stanford won both the A and B divisions for 66 total points, comfortably ahead of second-place UC Santa Barbara. The Cardinal completed its spring sweep at the team racing championship, edging out Hawaii with a 7-1 record for the win. Under the stewardship of Vandemoer, Stanford has won 26 of 27 possible PCCSC spring championships.All-PCCSC SquadsStanford swept the PCCSC individual awards – La Dow won coed sailor of the year, Booker claimed crew of the year and White took home women's sailor of the year.

Twelve Stanford sailors were named to the All-PCCSC teams, as announced by the conference following the completion of the spring championships. Marshall, Rosenberg and La Dow earned coed skipper first-team honors, while White and sophomore Martina Sly picked up women's skipper first-team honors.

First-team crews included sophomore Kathryn Booker, Cannistraro, sophomore Meg Gerli and freshman Madeline Bubb. Senior Reinier Eenkema van Dijk made the coed skipper second team, while Kirkpatrick and sophomore Cassie Obel added second-team crew honors.ICSA National ChampionshipsStanford started the spring ICSA National Championships with a fifth-place finish in the Sperry Women's Championship. The quartet of Sly, Julia Lambert, Bubb and Elena VandenBerg led the way with fourth place in the B-fleet, while White skippered Stanford to seventh place in the A-division. It was the Cardinal's highest finish at women's nationals since 2013.

The Cardinal continued its run at nationals with a seventh-place finish in the LaserPerformance Team Race Championship. Stanford advanced to the semifinals with a 9-6 record in preliminaries, finishing with an 11-11 overall record. The result was Stanford's tenth-consecutive top-ten finish in team racing nationals.

The Cardinal finished its season at the Gill Coed Championships, finishing 16th. Stanford earned a place in the finals after finishing sixth in the eastern semifinal, making it the seventh-consecutive season in which Stanford has advanced to the coed finals. Stanford settled for sixth place in the Fowle Trophy, which tallies points from all six ICSA National Championships (men's singlehanded, women's singlehanded, match racing, coed, women's and team racing).Three Named All-AmericaThree Cardinal were named All-America following the ICSA championships – Booker, Will La Dow and White.

It was the second All-America team in as many years for Booker, who represented Stanford in the team racing and coed national championships. Booker, a native of St. Petersburg, Florida, was Stanford's primary A-division crew throughout the year. Her selection continues Stanford's seven-year run of having at least one All-America crew.

Junior Will La Dow earned his second All-America honor in as many seasons. La Dow, a native of San Diego was Stanford's first-choice A-division skipper, teaming with Booker for most of the season. He represented Stanford in the team racing and coed championships to cap the season.

White earned her first All-America selection with an honorable mention following the women's championship. White, a native of Annapolis, Maryland, led Stanford to a fifth-place finish at the Sperry Women's Championship last week after winning the A-division Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Women's Championship, helping the Cardinal win the overall crown.
