STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior men's golfer Maverick McNealy has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America second team, as announced Thursday by the organization.
Also this year's Ben Hogan Award winner and Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, McNealy has continually excelled in the classroom during his four years on The Farm while majoring in management science and engineering.
A native of Portola Valley, California, McNealy finished his college playing days tied with Tiger Woods and Patrick Rodgers for career victories at Stanford with 11. He is a three-time PING All-America first team selection.
McNealy is Stanford's record holder for career scoring average (70.13), and holds three of the top-five single-season scoring averages.
In 2015 as a sophomore, McNealy received the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. The two-time Pac-12 Player of the Year has twice been named a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award. He recently was selected for the third time to represent the United States in the Arnold Palmer Cup.
Off the golf course, McNealy has participated -- along with the men's golf team -- in hosting multiple afternoon golf clinics for members of East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring, an after-school tutoring and athletics program for disadvantaged students in East Palo Alto. He served as host for the most recent East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring golf clinic. McNealy is a member of the Cardinal Council, Stanford's student-athlete representative body, which acts as a liaison between the athletic department, Stanford University and the NCAA.
