STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford is heading to Italy in less than two weeks for a trip that includes culture and competition, five games and stops in four cities.
The Cardinal will leave campus on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and return to Stanford on Friday, Sept. 15. The journey, which programs are able to take once every four years, will have Stanford traveling to Rome (Sept. 6-8), Orvieto (Sept. 9), Florence (Sept. 9-11) and Venice (Sept. 12-14). Stanford last visited Italy in late August and early September of 2013.
College basketball teams are allowed 10 official practices before international trips and Stanford will use its final two of that number on Monday, Sept. 4 and the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 5 before heading to SFO for an afternoon flight to Europe.
Stanford's itinerary, including opponents and tip times can be found below (all times local). In addition to organized tours, each day also includes free time for the team to see the sights in these cities on their own.
