STANFORD, Calif. - Fresh off a second straight national championship, 17 members of the Stanford women's swimming and diving team were named Pac-12 All-Academic, including a league-best seven first-team honorees, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Megan Byrnes (management, science and engineering) Ella Eastin (human biology), Lindsey Engel (mechanical engineering), Katie Ledecky (undeclared), Allie Szekely (undeclared), Erin Voss (undeclared) and Kim Williams (political science) earned first-team status.
Simone Manuel (communication) was named to the second team, while Kassidy Cook, Katie Drabot, Alexandra Meyers, Haley Farnsworth, Sammy Gallagher, Ally Howe, Janet Hu, Brooke Stenstrom and Leah Stevens were honorable mention honorees.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team's scheduled regular season events.
Stanford became the first school to reach 10 NCAA swimming and diving titles and claimed back-to-back championships for the first time since 1992-96. In a record-setting meet last weekend, the Cardinal became just the third school to sweep all five relays at the NCAA meet, and tied an all-time record with 13 event titles overall, last set 25 years ago by Stanford.
