Sweet Senior Sendoff

STANFORD, Calif. - Seniors Kelsey Murray and Dillon Schoen combined for nine goals, and senior Allie DaCar made 10 saves to lead No. 12 Stanford lacrosse to a Senior Day victory over Oregon, 17-9, on Sunday at Stanford Stadium.

Stanford (12-4, 7-2 Pac-12) clinched one of the two first round byes at the inaugural Pac-12 tournament. The Cardinal will be the No. 2 seed. Colorado (111-4, 8-1) has clinched the top seed and will host the tournament, though the Cardinal can still claim a share of the first-ever Pac-12 regular season title with a win over Cal and a Buffaloes loss to Oregon next weekend. 

Prior to the game, the Cardinal honored its nine seniors, Cameron Park, Maggie Nick, Sandy Smith, Sydney Shaw, Kelly Myers, Madison O'Leary, DaCar, Schoen and Murray. All nine were in the starting lineup.

Murray scored six times and added an assist as she became the first Cardinal to eclipse 300 career points. Schoen had a hat trick, while freshman Ali Baiocco and sophomore Mikaela Watson each scored twice. 

Murray, who set the school record on Friday with six assists, had a hat trick within the first 10 minutes on Sunday. She scored her first two goals 31 seconds apart to give Stanford a 3-1 lead at the 23:33 mark. Her third goal put the Cardinal up 6-2 with 20:10 left in the half.

DaCar held Oregon (8-7, 4-5) scoreless for more than 16 minutes as the Cardinal built an 8-2 lead.

Shortly after the Ducks ended that streak, Murray and Schoen scored consecutively for a 10-4 advantage at the half.

Schoen and Murray also scored to open the second half as Stanford built a 14-4 lead with 19:36 to play. 

Oregon closed to within 14-6, but Watson scored twice in just over a minute to build the lead back to 16-6 with 12:16 remaining. Junior Monika Sivilli capped the scoring for Stanford as the Cardinal finished off its ninth win in the last 10 games. 

Nick had two ground balls and two draw controls, and O'Leary had a ground ball, caused turnover and a draw control. Smith took three shots, while Park and Shaw each had a ground ball for the Cardinal. 

Junior Areta Buness added two ground balls, two caused turnovers and a game-high seven draw controls. Freshman goal keeper Trudie Grattan made two saves in just over six minutes of action. 

Stanford out shot the Ducks, 41-28, and held a 16-13 lead in draw controls and 26-19 advantage on ground balls.

Stanford wraps up the regular season at arch rival Cal on Friday at 7 p.m. PT.
