IRVINE, Calif. --The No. 17 Stanford Cardinal had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners 10-1 despite the efforts of junior Aly Kaneshiro, who hit a home run for the Cardinal's sole run.
Junior Regan Krause (0-1) got the ball to start for Stanford (1-1) and took the loss.
Kaneshiro led the way offensively for the Cardinal, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run. Freshman River Mahler furnished a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinal were trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Kaneshiro put Stanford on the board with a one-out solo home run off senior Storako. The Cardinal were unable to get any closer, as Oklahoma added six runs to their tally on the way to a 10-1 final.
