Walk-Off Win

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Alana Vawter, junior Regan Krause and freshman NiJaree Canady combined to throw a shutout on Wednesday as No. 14 Stanford blanked UC Davis, 8-0 in six innings, at Smith Family Stadium.

Vawter (7-1) started and picked up the win for Stanford (15-2), going three shutout innings while giving up just two hits, no walks, and striking out five. Krause was dealing out of the bullpen, turning in two shutout innings without allowing a hit, a walk and striking out four.

Offensively, the Cardinal was paced by senior Taylor Gindlesperger, who hit a triple and tallied three RBI. Junior Aly Kaneshiro went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Freshman Kyra Chan made the most of her one at-bat, hitting a walk-off double to bring home Kylie Chung and end the game in the sixth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cardinal took the lead in the third with Gindlesperger hitting a two-run triple before River Mahler and Kaitlyn Lim also drove in runs.

Gindlesperger added an additional run in the fifth, bringing home Emily Schultz to put the Cardinal up 5-0. Chan knocked in an RBI double to end the game in walk-off fashion.
