Pitchers Combine for Shutout

PROVO, Utah - NiJaree Canady and Alana Vawter combined to throw a shutout on Monday as No. 5 Stanford blanked BYU 1-0 at Gail Miller Field.

Canady (9-0) started and picked up the win for Stanford (32-9), going 4.1 shutout innings while giving up three hits, walking one, and striking out six. Vawter was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going 2.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out six.

In the batter's box, the Cardinal were paced by Taylor Gindlesperger, who went 1-for-3 on the day and drove in the sole run. Aly Kaneshiro put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.

The Cardinal got on board in the third with Gindlesperger scoring Sydney Steele from second base. Stanford did not allow a hit past the third inning, helping the Cardinal record its 17th shutout of the season.

Stanford is back home to take on Cal next for a Pac-12 series from Friday-Sunday. All three games will be streamed on Pac-12 Networks.
