Freshmen Features: Part VI

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshmen from the Stanford women's lacrosse team answer some frequently asked questions and give some insight into what it's like to be a freshman at Stanford. Our sixth installment:
Describe what the team dynamic is like?
Rachel Cowan (Cherry Hills Village, Colorado)
The team dynamic is awesome. It really is like a family. Every person cares about each other and wants the best for one another. We can laugh and have fun, but when it comes time to focus we are dedicated to working hard and creating success for this team. We want to make history and win!

Trudie Grattan (Richmond, Virginia)
Team dynamic is amazing. The moment we were all together everyone made the freshmen feel part of the team. The team has made the transition from high school to college so much easier than I thought it would be through support, encouragement, and friendship.

Katherine Gjertsen (Winnetka, Illinois)
I love being a part of this team! All of my teammates are incredibly supportive and have done an amazing job at making the freshman immediately feel welcomed and valued. There is great leadership throughout the team, and the seniors especially have created the foundation of an inclusive and positive environment that allows everybody to grow as lacrosse players and individuals.

Galen Lew (Glen Ridge, New Jersey)
We are extremely close. There is not one person on the team that feels isolated because they can't relate to another player. We find comfort in each other within our own classes but also comfort in the upperclassmen who take us under their wings and show us the ins-and-outs of being a student-athlete at Stanford. Everyone wants the best for each other.

Gabby Noto (Atherton, California)
I love my team. I am so grateful for how inclusive everyone is. I was a little nervous to be a freshman and try and find my place on the team, but our upperclassmen and sophomores have been more then welcoming. I think that has contributed greatly to the close culture we have.

Chelsea Trattner (Ridgewood, New Jersey)
The team dynamic is extremely supportive. Whether it's regarding what classes to take or advice on a particular drill in practice, my teammates are always there to help me. They make me a better player everyday and it's very empowering to be playing alongside of such a remarkable group of young women.

Marianna Salvatori (Baltimore, Maryland)
We consider ourselves a family, which means loving one another but also holding each other accountable. It is a surreal feeling to contribute to a team that is motivated to do amazing things.

Taylor Scornavacco (San Diego, California)
The Stanford lacrosse team is such an amazing program to be a part of especially as we enter our first season in the Pac-12. Everyone is very driven and focused on achieving success and representing Stanford and the athletics program with pride. We've grown very close as the year has come along and we all push each other to the best we can be through support and indomitable competitive spirit.
