Two Named All-Americans

STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Evan Enriques and freshman Jaylen Jasper were selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America teams, the organization announced today.

Enriques collected second team honors and is now a three-time honoree after earning first team accolades as a sophomore and honorable mention as a junior. He was one of just three liberos to be recognized on the All-America teams this season. Jasper was an honorable mention pick, and one of just five freshman acknowledged.

Enriques, a native of Punalu'u, Hawai'i, is a three-time All-MPSF performer and finishes his time on The Farm ranked in the top 5 all-time with 797 career digs. He ranked second in the MPSF with 2.22 digs per set and tallied double-digit digs on eight occasions in 2018. The senior twice had a season-best 15 digs – vs. Princeton (Jan. 5) and at then-No. 1 Ohio State (Jan. 12). He was voted the MPSF Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 15 after averaging 3.14 digs per set on the road against then-No. 1 Ohio State and then-No. 14 Ball State.

Jasper, who hails from Annapolis, Maryland, is the first Stanford freshman to receive AVCA All-America recognition since Erik Shoji in 2009. The opposite led the MPSF and was fifth nationally with 3.99 kills per set during the regular season. He was second in points per set (4.40) and also ranked in the top 15 in aces per set (0.27) in the MPSF. He registered double-digit kills in 18 of 26 matches and reached the 20-kill plateau six times. He earned MPSF, VolleyMob and AVCA Player of the Week honors for his efforts against Grand Canyon (March 29) and Concordia (March 31), which included matching his career high with 27 kills against the Lopes.
