STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford was honored with four selections to the Pac-12 All-Academic Team, as announced Tuesday by Commissioner Larry Scott.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and compete in at least 50 percent of the team's matches. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration.
Headlining the group was sophomore Emily Arbuthnott (4.12 – Undeclared), who was the Cardinal's lone representative named to the first team.
Stanford was also represented with three honorable mention picks in sophomore Emma Higuchi (3.46 – Undeclared), junior Caroline Lampl (3.28 – Science, Technology and Society) and junior Melissa Lord (3.19 – Public Policy). Lampl and Lord are two-time honorees.
The most decorated program in women's college tennis, Stanford (24-3, 9-0 Pac-12) in 2018 duplicated its 2016 NCAA title run as the lowest-seeded team at No. 15 to win an NCAA championship. Closing the season on a 20-match win streak, the Cardinal defeated Vanderbilt 4-3 to secure its 20th national championship (19 NCAA, 1 AIAW) and has now won 19 of the possible 37 NCAA crowns. Knocking off North Carolina, Georgia and Duke along the way, Stanford has won 20 of its last 23 NCAA matches as a lower seed. The Cardinal finished Pac-12 play unbeaten and captured its 27th conference title, winning three straight for the first time since 2010-12. Stanford achieved another milestone on April 27, collecting win No. 1,000 in program history after blanking Washington State 4-0 in the semifinals of the Pac-12 Championship.
