Power Surge » The Cardinal has hit the ball with plenty of power to start 2025. Through 20 games, the team boasts 38 home runs. Last season, in 57 games, Stanford hit 56. The 38 homers have come from 11 different players, including first-career home runs from juniors River Mahler and Ella Murchison.
Junior Taryn Kern leads the team with six on the season, already just one shy of her seven from all of 2024. The freshmen duo of Joie Economides and Sydney Boulaphinh have combined for nine. The Card made it to the WCWS in 2023 with just 26 home runs hit in the entire season. The 38 home runs in 2025 are already just one shy of the ninth-most in a single season in program history.
New Digs, Same Card » The Cardinal will play all 2025 home games at Stanford Stadium, while Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium undergoes renovations. Stanford is off to a perfect 12-0 record at home this season, after going 23-8 at home last season.
Ice Cold River » Junior River Mahler leads the team in RBI this season, with a career-high 24. With runners on base, Mahler is 19-for-38 on the season to lead the team with a .500 average. Her clutch hitting numbers include a .464 average (13-for-28) with runners in scoring position, and has driven in a run every time she's been at bat with a runner on third and less than two outs (8-for-8).
Compound Growth » Since Jessica Allister took over the program ahead of the 2018 season, the Cardinal has scored more runs than the previous season every year – with the exception of the COVID-condensed 2020 season.
