CARY, N.C. – No. 26 Stanford ran out of gas in a 4-0 quarterfinal loss to No. 8 North Carolina at the ACC Championship on Friday afternoon.
One day after coming out on top in a four-hour marathon against Miami, the Cardinal was swept by the Tar Heels for the second time this season.
UNC won at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to take an early lead and then picked up quick wins on courts 5 (6-0, 6-2) and 3 (6-1, 6-1) to go ahead 3-0.
Stanford took first sets on the top courts from Connie Ma and Valerie Glozman, but both eventually went three sets, while Claire Hill clinched for North Carolina on court 6, 6-3, 6-4.
Stanford will learn its draw for the NCAA team tournament on Monday, April 28 at 2 p.m. PT on NCAA.com's selection show.
