STANFORD, Calif. – No. 15 Stanford picked up a key ACC win tonight, erasing an early lead to walk off against No. 25 Virginia 4-3. The Cardinal moves to 34-9 (12-7) on the season with the win, including 20-3 at Stanford Stadium.

Virginia struck quickly to go ahead 2-0, hitting a two-run homer in the top of the first.

The Cardinal came back to tie it in the third, with Jade Berry and Joie Economides each driving in a run. Berry’s RBI was her 50th of the season, marking the first time since 2015 that a Stanford batter has driven in 50 or more runs in a season.

Virginia retook the lead in the top of the fifth, plating a run to make it 3-2. The RBI single was the only run the Cavaliers were able to push across off of Alyssa Houston in the circle. The sophomore finished the 3.1 innings of work, striking out five and allowing just two hits.

Then in the seventh, Stanford pushed back in front. Taryn Kern reached on a leadoff walk, then Dani Hayes entered to pinch run and steal second. Hayes raced home to score from second on a double off the bat of Emily Jones, tying the game at three.

With the score tied and Jones on second, Berry smacked a ball on the ground that resulted in an error. By the time Virginia had recovered the ball, Jones had already slid into home and started celebrating with her teammates.

The victory is the Cardinal’s first walk-off win since March 23, 2024, when Stanford topped Utah 2-1.

The Cardinal is back against Virginia tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. PT. Tickets for the game are available at Tickets.GoStanford.com, and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
