STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 15 Cardinal picked up a key ACC series win today, shutting out No. 25 Virginia to win 2-0 and move to 35-10 (13-8) on the season. Alyssa Houston and Kylie Chung combined for the two-hit shutout in the circle, striking out six.

Stanford was held hitless through the first three innings of play, but all the offense needed came in the bottom of the fourth.

Taryn Kern reached in the leadoff spot after being hit by a pitch. Back-to-back singles from Emily Jones and River Mahler brought Kern around to score, then Jones came home on a sacrifice fly from Jade Berry. The two run, two hit inning carried the day.

Stanford is at home for one final game this season on Wednesday, hosting Santa Clara at 5:00 p.m. PT. Tickets for the game are available at Tickets.GoStanford.com, and the game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
