STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Arianna Cao can add ACC Fencer of the Year to her résumé, fresh off winning the NCAA Championship in women's foil two weeks ago. Cao becomes the Cardinal's first fencer to earn an end of season award in the ACC, coming in the program's first season in the conference.
Cao took home the crown in the weapon after going 17-6 in pool play, then sweeping the four-person playoff to become the Card's first national champion since 2015.
The native of San Jose finised 37-11 in regular season individual bouts, then went 3-2 to finish ninth at the ACC Championships. Prior to her national championship run, Cao earned USFCA West All-Region First Team honors for the second time in her career.
