STANFORD, Calif. – No. 25 Stanford was swept at home by No. 7 North Carolina on Friday afternoon.
Now 13-5 overall and 6-3 in the ACC, the Cardinal concludes its regular-season home slate when it hosts No. 4 Duke on Saturday, April 5 at 2 p.m. Prior to the match, Connie Ma, Valencia Xu, Alexandra Yepifanova and Chidimma Okpara will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony.
North Carolina took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 and went up 2-0 when Emma Sun was forced to retire at No. 6 singles.
The Cardinal won first sets at Nos. 1, 4 and 5, but was unable to completely swing the match’s momentum. Connie Ma at No. 1 and Morgan Shaffer at No. 5 went unfinished, as did Valerie Glozman at No. 2, who forced a third set in her match against No. 18 Theadora Rabman.
UNC picked up wins by Alanis Hamilton at No. 4 and Tatum Evans at No. 3 to clinch.
