STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s tennis was one of a select number of programs to place the maximum of four student-athletes with Academic All-District Recognition from College Sports Communicators. Samir Banerjee, Max Basing, Kyle Kang and Henry von der Schulenburg earned the award.
Banerjee was one of six players named to the All-ACC first team in April, and he earns his second career CSC Academic All-District award. The junior from Basking Ridge, New Jersey holds a 13-7 overall singles record, and a 10-5 dual mark all at No. 1 singles. Banerjee holds three wins over top-10 players and eight against top-25 competition. Banerjee is currently ranked seventh in the country in singles, a career-high mark, and 48th in doubles.
The ACC Championships Most Valuable Player, Basing earned his fourth-career all-conference nod with a selection to the All-ACC third team in April. Basing becomes a three-time CSC All-District selection, and he enters the NCAA quarterfinals at 18-7 in singles, including a 15-4 dual record. Basing is currently ranked No. 101 in singles and was ranked as high as No. 50 in doubles earlier this season.
Kang earns his first career CSC Academic All-District honor after a strong season playing across the Stanford lineup, including a 3-0 mark at No. 1 singles. Kang is 10-8 on the season, including a 7-5 mark in dual play. Kang is currently ranked 47th in the country in doubles, and he was ranked as high as 66th in singles earlier this season.
von der Schulenburg has had a significant impact in his first season on The Farm. The Harvard transfer is 21-4 on the season in singles and 15-5 in doubles, leading the team in singles wins, and he is currently ranked 73rd in singles and 47th in doubles by the ITA. He has earned two ACC Doubles Team of the week honors this season.
Stanford won the ACC Championship in first season in the league, and it enters the NCAA Quarterfinals, it’s first appearance since 2012, with a 25-5 overall record. The Cardinal has been ranked as high as No. 5 this season by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and it earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, Stanford reached the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, the program’s first semifinals appearance since 2018.
