CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — Announced on Tuesday morning, the Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf Anne Walker is on the Watch List for the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year presented by Golf Pride.
Walker won the award in 2024, an honor she has held three times in her career. All three instances came after she guided Stanford to national championships (2015, 2022, 2024). After winning the title and the award last year, she has the Cardinal as the favorites to repeat, with Stanford entering this week’s NCAA Championship as the top overall seed.
Stanford has won seven tournaments this year, tied for the most in a single season under Walker, including the team’s seventh NCAA Regional win since 2016. Under her guidance, Walker has produced 33 All-Americans in 12 years, with at least one coming every season. Stanford has also won 50 full-field tournaments during her tenure.
The 2025 NCAA Championship begins on May 16 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. 30 teams and six individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play over the first three days before the field is cut down 15 teams with the top nine individuals for an additional round of stroke play. This will determine the top eight teams advancing to match play, where the national champion will need to win three times.
Stanford is the defending NCAA champion after beating Auburn, USC, and UCLA in match play in 2024. The Cardinal has won two of the last three NCAA titles and three overall since the tournament format switched to match play. Stanford has made the match play portion of the NCAA Championship every season since it was instituted in 2015.
