Cardinal Selected CSC Academic All-District

Driscoll, Ma, Xu recognized for combined performances athletically and in the classroom

STANFORD, Calif. – Connie Ma, Valencia Xu and Caroline Driscoll have been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women’s Tennis Team for Division I.

The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot and Ma was selected as a finalist and placed on the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 3.

Last season’s CSC Women's Tennis Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year, Ma had a remarkable senior campaign on The Farm. She was 29-5 this season, 17-1 in duals, and put together a career record of 131-28, including 68-14 in duals and 61-18 against ranked opponents. A three-time All-American, Ma also picked up the prestigious Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award from the ITA in 2024.

A two-time Academic All-American, Xu wrapped up her Cardinal career with a strong performance in last Saturday’s Super Regionals at Oklahoma State. Down 5-2 in the opening set to the Cowgirls’ Kylie Collins, she stormed back to win five games in a row and pick up a 7-5, 6-3 victory. Xu went 21-11 this season, 13-6 in duals, and finished her career with a 93-28 overall record, including 55-18 in duals.

A mid-year transfer from Denver, Caroline Driscoll solidified the middle of Stanford’s lineup as the Cardinal dealt with several injuries throughout the spring. She was 15-6 in duals, including 5-4 at No. 3 and 6-2 at No. 4, and clinched a team-best five matches. She has been featured in the past four ITA singles rankings, vaulting in for the first time following a straight-set victory over Duke's then-No. 20 Emma Jackson on April, and is currently 88th.

The Cardinal finished its season with a 17-9 record, its 43rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and its 42nd trip to the Round of 16.
