Stanford (40-11, 16-8) opens the double elimination tournament against Binghamton (36-12, 16-2) on Friday at 2:00 p.m. PT. On the other side of the bracket, the host No. 16 Oregon (47-4, 19-3) takes on Weber State (28-30, 8-7).
High-Powered Bats » The Stanford offense has been among the best in the country to open the season, leading the ACC in scoring (8.10 runs per game), batting average (.357), on-base percentage (.445) and slugging percentage (.637). The Card's home run total and per-game average are the second most in the ACC and top seven in the country.
Card in NCAAs » Stanford softball is back in the NCAA tournament for the 22nd time in program history and sixth-straight season. The Card has also advanced to Super Regionals in each of the last three seasons, and the Women's College World Series in the last two.
Paul A. Violich Director of Softball Jessica Allister owns an 18-11 postseason record at Stanford. All-time, the Card owns a 61-49 record in the NCAA tournament and a 47-28 record in Regionals. The last time Stanford was on the road for Regionals was 2022, going 3-1 to win the Tuscaloosa Regional.
Opponent Outlook » The Card heads to Eugene for a potential bout with a former Pac-12 foe in Oregon. Stanford trails Oregon 40-48 in the all-time record, going 2-1 against the Ducks last year. The Card has never played Binghamton before, but owns a 4-1 all-time record with Weber State.
Historic Performers » So many Cardinal hitters have reached historic milestones, they need to be tracked in groups. Prior to 2025, the last time a Stanford batter had 50+ RBI in a season was 2015. This season Jade Berry, River Mahler and Kyra Chan all have crossed 50 RBI, with Joie Economides right behind at 48.
Last season, two Card batters (Aly Kaneshiro and Ava Gall) hit 10+ home runs for the first time in a season since 2008. This year, five hitters have recorded double-digit home runs.
Clutch Kyra » Junior Kyra Chan has been solid in clutch moments in 2025, en route to a team-leading 58 RBI on the year. Chan leads the team in batting average with runners on (.471), runners in scoring position (.484) and two-out RBI (26).
Ice Cold River » Junior River Mahler is third on the team with 51 RBI this season, posting a career year at the plate. Mahler's .434 batting average is the fourth-best in the ACC and 33rd in the country. Her 72 hits are the fifth-most in the conference. Mahler leads the ACC in sacrifice flies (6), the eighth-most in the NCAA.
RBI Machines » Chan and sophomore Jade Berry are tied for the team lead with 58 RBI, a mark that's also tied for the third-most in a single season in program history. The total is just nine shy of the record, currently held by Sarah Beeson (2001) and Jenna Rich (2012). Last season Berry was second on the team with 38 RBI, Chan was 8th with 21. Mahler is not far behind with 51, giving Stanford three batters with 50+ RBI in a season for the first time in program history.
On Pace for History » Five Cardinal hitters are currently on pace to re-write the program top-10 lists for RBI, batting average and slugging percentage. Mahler, Jones, and Chan all have current batting averages that are good to put them squarely in the top 10 if the season ended today, becoming the first Stanford hitters to bat over .400 in a season since 2015.
Kern and Mahler are both on pace to edit the program's slugging percentage list as well. That list has not been altered since 2015. Chan and Berry are tied for the third-best single-season RBI total in program history, the most since 2012.
