Lonni Alameda enters her eighth season on The Farm after joining the Cardinal coaching staff in 1996. A 1993 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Alameda has played and coached around the United States as well as overseas.
In her eight seasons on The Farm, Stanford has recorded a 279-153-1 overall mark. Alameda has helped lead the Cardinal to five consecutive postseason appearances and five straight 40-win seasons. Alameda's main duty involves working with the pitching staff and thus far in her career, she has coached three All-Americans.
Alameda began her collegiate career by leading St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, Texas to the NAIA national tournament as a pitcher. After a season there, she transferred to Oklahoma. A two-time Second-Team All-Big Eight selection, Alameda played first and third base for the Sooners. She led Oklahoma with a .359 batting average in 1992 to earn her second straight all-conference accolades and was also named second-team all-region that season. A great all-around athlete, Alameda also was a defensive specialist on the Oklahoma volleyball team.
After receiving her communications degree from Oklahoma, Alameda played and coached overseas. In 1993, she played professionally in Holland for seven months, and her team placed second in the European Championships.
Following that, she helped coach the national team of Aruba. Prior to coming to Stanford, she spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Barry University in Florida. During her first season at Barry, the team finished fifth at the NCAA Division II Championships.
Alameda is a 1988 graduate of Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, Calif., where she competed in softball, volleyball and basketball. Following graduation, she played for Athletes in Action in Italy.
