  • Ran the leadoff leg (1,200) in a 2:54.5 split, helping Stanford to a school-record 9:27.27 in the distance medley relay at the Penn State National.
  • It was the fifth-fastest collegiate time in history.
  • Led off Stanford's fourth-place DMR at NCAA's (9:33.85). 
  • Ran a split of 2:58.06.
  • MPSF All-Academic team.

Cross country

  • Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
  • No. 7 runner on  NCAA West Regional runner-up team, placing 104th in 33:11.7.
  • Placed 60th at Pac-12 Championships, in 25:03.0 over 8K.
  • Placed 18th at the Stanford Invitational, running 24:21.1 over 8K despite getting spiked across the leg.

As a sophomore (2014-15):
Outdoors

  • Advanced to the NCAA West Prelims in the 1,500, running 3:44.91 for 13th.
  • Seventh at the Pac-12 Championships 1,500 in 3:47.63.
  • Ran his personal best of 3:42.80 in the Pac-12 prelims to advance.
  • Doubled at the Big Meet, finishing sixth in the 1,500 and ninth in the 800.
  • Ran the opening leg of Stanford's 4xMile team that placed third at the Penn Relays.
  • USTFCCCA All-Academic.
  • Pac-12 All-Academic second team.

Indoors

  • Became the 440th American to run a sub-4:00 mile when he clocked 3:59.32 to finish third at the MPSF Championships in Seattle on Feb. 28.
  • Ran the opening leg of the DMR at the NCAA Championships, but fell in a collision.
  • Stanford finished 10th in 9:50.50.
  • Broke his personal best in the mile in each of his three races.
  • Ran the first leg on the second-place DMR at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame.
  • The time of 9:29.34 is No. 5 all-time at Stanford.
  • Competed in six meets, three times in the mile. 

Cross country

  • Named Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
  • 26th at the USF Invitational (26:18.8, 8k) and the number eight runner for Stanford.
  • 58th at Stanford Invitational (24:27, 8k).
  • 28th at Bronco Invitational (24:15, 8k) as Stanford's fifth best runner.

As a freshman (2013-14):
Outdoors

  • Redshirted, but ran unattached.
  • Set personal bests in the 800, first at the Stanford Invitational (1:52.78), and next at the West Coast Last Chance meet in San Francisco, in 1:51.38.
  • Ran the 1,500 at the Stanford Invite (3:51.04), the Payton Jordan (a personal best 3:46.10) and Portland Track Festival (3:49.51).

Indoors

  • Twice broke personal best in the mile, first at Penn State National (4:09.55) on Feb. 1 and then at the Husky Classic (4:08.30) on Feb. 15.
  • Was 17th in the mile at the MPSF Championships, running 4:10.45.
  • Anchored Stanford's distance medley relay to third at MPSF's (9:44.54).
  • Made collegiate debut at the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 18, finishing ninth in the 1,000 (2:30.27) and second in the 4x800 (7:35.71).

 Cross Country

  • Competed in four meets in 2015, placing 104th at the NCAA West Regional as Stanford's No. 7.
  • Ran in two races unattached.
  • Was 50th at the Stanford Invitational (26:05, 8K) and 19th at the Doc Adams Invite (25:21, 8K).

High School:

  • The 2012 Pennsylvania state AAA champion at 1,600 meters.
  • Second in the 2013 state meet in the same event, in 4:16.62.
  • His 1:51.78 in the 800 was among the nation’s top 10 times for a high school junior.
  • Won multiple all-state honors in both track and cross country.

Personal:

  • Son of Brian and Joan Coyle.
  • Great grandfather Edward McNichol played basketball for Pennsylvania from 1913-17, was an All-American and went on to coach the team from 1920-30.
  • McNichol's five brothers also played basketball for the Quakers.
  • Majoring in management science and engineering.
  • Has younger siblings Mary Cate and Patrick.
