- Mother swam at Florida, earning a NCAA championship with the team and was ranked as high as No. 2 in the world in the 100 fly
- Two relatives, Jenny Stein and Susan (Rapp) von der Lippe, swam for Stanford, while von der Lippe (as Susan Rapp) earned gold (400-meter medley relay) and silver (200-meter breaststroke) medals at the 1984 Olympics
