STANFORD, Calif. – Seven members of the Stanford beach volleyball team were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic teams Friday, as announced by the conference.
"I have tremendous respect for our student-athletes and all of the student-athletes on the Pac-12 All-Academic team," said Cardinal head coach Andrew Fuller. "While their accomplishments on the court during college are many, the true mark of their growth will be their contributions to society and their communities off the sand."
Sophomores Caitlin Keefe, Kat Anderson and Shannon Richardson led the Cardinal with a first-team honor each, their first all-academic nod as a members of the program. Junior Courtney Bowen was named to the second team for the second time in her career. Sophomore Morgan Hentz also earned second-team honors for the Cardinal, her first as a member of the beach volleyball program.
Senior Catherine Raquel and junior Payton Chang each earned honorable mentions, rounding out the honors for Stanford. Raquel is now a three-time recipient of Pac-12 all-academic honors, having been named honorable mention in both 2016 and 2017.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games.
