Gameday Hub: Washington

  • Stanford travels to Washington to take on the No. 23 Huskies on Saturday in Seattle. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on FOX.
  • Stanford reclaimed The Stanford Axe with its 24-23 win over California on Friday. Thomas Booker blocked what would’ve been a game-tying PAT in the final minute to secure the one-point victory. Booker was named Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week for his game-clinching block.
  • Fifth-year defensive end Thomas Schaffer finished the Big Game win at Cal with three tackles and his first two career sacks.
  • David Shaw, who will coach in his 85th Pac-12 regular-season contest on Saturday, looks to become one of the fastest coaches in conference history to reach 60 wins. Only five coaches in conference history have won 60 league games in 85 games or fewer.
  • In two games, Mills is 55-of-88 (62.5%) for 532 yards and two touchdowns. He has attempted 144 consecutive passes without throwing an interception, dating back to Nov. 23, 2019 vs. California.
  • Four Cardinal have made their first career catches so far this season, including John Humphreys and E.J. Smith last week at Cal. Sophomore Elijah Higgins made his first career reception vs. Colorado, as did freshman Casey Filkins.
  • Junior captain Thomas Booker is fourth on the team with 13 tackles through three weeks, while adding two tackles for loss, a sack, a fumble recovery and a blocked PAT. Booker dominated in the backfield in the Big Game win at Cal. He finished with just two tackles, one of those being a sack. In addition to his crucial fumble recovery that led to points and a 17-10 Cardinal lead, Booker’s biggest play of the game was his blocked PAT to preserve the 24-23 victory over the Bears. For his game-clinching block, he was named Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week.
  • Through three games, junior WR Michael Wilson leads the team with 17 catches for 218 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown came in a 7-catch, 88-yard, one-score performance in the win at Cal.
