Stanford Sweeps ASU

STANFORD, Calif. – Behind a career-high 18 kills from senior Meghan McClure, Stanford swept Arizona State, 25-22, 25-16, 25-16, Friday, in Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (2-5) out hit Arizona State (4-11) .333 to .163 and led in blocks (6.0-5.0), digs (50-41) and aces (6-2).

McClure led all players in kills on a season-best .444 hitting percentage to go with seven digs and two aces. Redshirt freshman Caitie Baird turned in her team-best third double-double of the year with 15 kills on .306 hitting and 12 digs.

Sophomore Selina Xu and junior Mackenzie Fidelak shared setting duties as the Cardinal ran a 6-2. Fidelak had 22 assists to go with three kills, three digs and two blocks. Xu finished with 20 assists, five digs and an ace.

Redshirt freshman middle blocker McKenna Vicini registered seven kills and a block, while freshman middle blocker Annabelle Smith added six kills and a match-high five blocks. Sophomore Natalie Berty came off the bench as a serving specialist and finished with an ace and a dig.

Arizona State was led by Marta Levinska's nine kills on .318 hitting and four digs.

Stanford and Arizona State meet again on Sunday. The match is scheduled for 12 p.m. and will air on Pac-12 Arizona and Pac-12 Bay Area.
