Thomas Merkle enters his fifth season on the Stanford staff in 2024 and serves as an Offensive Graduate Assistant. Merkle works with the Cardinal quarterbacks and has previously worked with both the wide receivers and offensive line during his time on The Farm.
Merkle played quarterback at Kenyon College from 2016-19 where he was a two-time captain and 40-game starter. During his time, he passed for a school-record 10,227 yards, 1,070 completions (also NCAC record) and 61 touchdowns. Merkle graduated with a double major in history and german. His initial coaching experience came as a volunteer offensive assistant at William Penn High School and for the Munich Cowboys during his collegiate playing days.
