Rubén Lopéz Martinéz enters his first season on The Farm after joining the Stanford men's gymnastics program in January 2024.
Lopéz Martinéz brings nearly two decades of world class gymnastics experience to the Cardinal coaching staff as a former member of the Spanish National Team (2006-2021).
Representing Spain as a 2012 Olympic Team member in London and serving as an alternate for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Lopéz Martinéz is a three-time Spanish all-around national champion, a 2015 all-around World Championships finalist in Glasgow, and a 2013 all-around European finalist. He was also an event finalist on rings and parallel bars at the 2017 World Cup in Cottbus, Germany.
A 2013 graduate of Universidad Politecnica de Madrid with a degree in sport science, Lopéz Martinéz is also the founder of WX Academy, an online platform with more than 3,000 educational videos for coaches and athletes of artistic gymnastics, calisthenics, and crossfit.
