SAN FRANCISCO (Treasure Island)-- Eliza Richartz and Ben Pedrick skippered their respective divisions to a combined win at the second North Regatta on Sunday, giving Stanford their second victory in as many tries in the five-regatta regional round robin.
Pedrick, the regining conference sailor of the week, sailed with Margaret Hayden and combined for eight points, the second lowest total amongst “B” divisions to Cal Maritime's six points. Richartz and Hayley Tobin combined for 10 points, the third-lowest total in the “A” division for a combined 18 points over three races.
Richartz and Pedrick both won their second races paced by a light breeze on the San Francisco Bay.
Stanford's other team skippered by Justin Doane and Hannah Burroughs finished in sixth place with 38 combined points. Burroughs along with Megan Grove tallied 12 points in the “B” Division, the fourth-best total amongst the 18 competitors.
The top teams from five North sectional regattas, along with its counterpart in Southern California, as well as Hawaii will make up the conference championship field in April. Other Northern sections will be February 20-21 (Monterey Bay) and April 3 and 4 (St. Francis Yacht Club, San Francisco).
