Sailing Wins Again at PCCSCs

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sailing continued its winning ways in PCCSC action, going a perfect 9-0 to win the conference Match Race Championship. The regatta was one of three on the weekend for the Cardinal, which placed second at the Women's Atlantic Coast Qualifier and 17th at the Danmark Trophy.

Jack Parkin skippered the races for Stanford at the PCCSC Match Race Championships, with AnaClare Sole, Mathew Hogan and Wiley Rogers as crews. The Cardinal bested competition from second-place Hawaii, third-place UC Santa Barbara and fourth-place California Maritime. Stanford qualified for the ICSA Match Race Championship, which is scheduled for Nov. 13-14.

The Cardinal sailed to second at the Women's Atlantic Coast Qualifier in St. Mary's City Maryland, edging Dartmouth in a tiebreaker with 121 total points. Michelle Lahrkamp and Patricia Gerli finished second with 36 points in the A division, while Berta Puig, Hannah Freeman and Ashton Borcherding sailed to seventh with 85 points in the B division. Stanford won three of the 26 races over the two-day regatta, with 21 top-fives. The pair of Lahrkamp and Gerli never finished lower than fifth in any single race.

The Cardinal also competed at the Danmark Trophy in New London, Connecticut, placing 17th. John Kirkpatrick and Abigail Tindall took 16th in Division A with 172 points, while Justin Lim and Gwendolyn Donahue ended in 19th in Division B with 162 points. The two pairs combined for six top-10 finishes over the two-day stretch.

Stanford returns to action Oct. 9-10 for two regattas on the East Coast. Brown hosts the Coed Atlantic Coast Qualifier, while Connecticut College welcomes teams for the Stu Nelson Trophy.
