Cardinal Sweeps Utes

STANFORD, Calif. – In a complete team effort, No. 2 Stanford downed Utah, 25-11, 25-20, 25-10, Wednesday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (25-3, 18-1 Pac-12), which has already captured the Pac-12 title and conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament, hit .349 as a team and racked up 49 digs, 7.0 blocks and 10 aces.

Middle blocker Sami Francis led Stanford with nine kills on .571 hitting, two blocks and two digs, while opposite Kendall Kipp added eight kills on a .467 attack percentage, seven digs, three blocks and an ace.
 


The Cardinal held Utah (10-19, 5-14 Pac-12) to a .112 attack percentage – the 14th time this season Stanford has held its opponent under .200.

Setter Kami Miner controlled the offense with 30 assists and notched seven digs, a kill and a block. Libero Elena Oglivie had a match-high 12 digs, four assists and an ace.
 


Middle blocker McKenna Vicini hit tied her season-high with a .667 attack percentage, registering six kills on nine errorless swings to go with a match-best five blocks. Outside hitter Elia Rubin totaled eight kills, 11 digs and tied her season-high with three aces.

Outside hitter Caitie Baird also recorded eight kills to go with seven digs, three aces and two blocks. Defensive specialist Anna Pringle chipped in with two digs and an ace.
 


Sophomore setter Kelly Belardi and freshman opposite Jordyn Harvey subbed in for the Cardinal late in the third. Belardi finished with three assists, while Harvey had an ace, a dig and a block.

Utah was led by outside hitter Lauren Jardine's eight kills, while Kamryn Gibadio added six kills. Stanford, which has won five straight over the Utes, is now 24-4 all-time against Utah.

Stanford closes out the regular season on Friday, hosting Cal for the Big Spike at 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks. The Cardinal will recognize its departing seniors during a postmatch ceremony.
