Stanford opened the scoring in the top of the third, with Gall driving a hard-hit grounder into right field to score sophomore Taryn Kern and make it 1-0.

Oregon State threatened immediately in the bottom of the third, loading the bases with only one out. Freshman pitcher Alyssa Houston forced back-to-back Beavers to fly out in foul territory, keeping the Card ahead 1-0.

Stanford kept the offense moving in the top of the fourth, with Kern singling to score freshman Jade Berry and sophomore Kyra Chan. Kern came around to score herself, after sophomore Emily Jones singled.

A two-run double in the bottom of the fourth put Oregon State back to within striking distance at 4-2. The Beavers would tie it in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run homer.
