Heather M. Owen serves as Stanford’s Deputy Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). She oversees the department’s Student-Athlete Performance Team (athletic training, equipment services, physical therapy, sports nutrition, sport psychology, sports performance, and sports science), and manages Stanford football’s scheduling. As SWA, Owen Liaises with the Atlantic Coast Conference office regarding Olympic sports matters. 
 
The Moscow, Idaho native joined Stanford Athletics in 2008. Prior to serving as an Executive Associate Athletics Director, she was the Senior Associate Athletics Director, Development, leading the department’s development efforts, including annual giving, major gifts and engagement. From 2012-14, Owen served as the Senior Assistant Athletics Director, Annual Giving, overseeing the Buck/Cardinal Club. Owen was also the Director of Annual Giving for leadership gifts from 2008-12. 
 
A standout basketball student-athlete at Stanford, Owen competed for Tara VanDerveer from 1994-98 before graduating with a degree in political science and a minor in sociology. Owen was a two-time Pac10 All-Academic selection and helped lead the Cardinal to three NCAA Final Four appearances. 
 
Owen played professionally in the WNBA for two seasons with the Washington Mystics and abroad in France, while also pursuing a law degree from Santa Clara, which she earned in 2003. She practiced law at DLA Piper for several years before returning to The Farm.
 
Owen resides in Redwood City, California with her wife, Maggie.
