REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--- Stanford Sailing is defending its home seas following the first of two days of sailing at the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference's team championships, producing a 7-1 record amongst the seven competitors.
Stanford had to comeback after trailing after round 1, in which the Cardinal went 5-1, with the one blemish to undefeated UC Irvine. The Anteaters though faltered halfway through round two, going 0-3 to finish at 6-3 after the first day, while Stanford is a perfect 2-0 in round two and 7-1 overall. Hawai'i caught up to the second place Anteaters with a 3-0 record in round two after a 3-3 start.
UC Santa Barbara and USC are batting for the fourth and final spot for the final four race for the championship, both finishing the three-boat, head-to-head race at 4-5.
Winds remained at 12 knots for most of the day, building to 15 to 18 knots at times from the Northwest.
