Last Week with Stanford Field Hockey
• The Cardinal wrapped up its regular season with two huge wins on the road - taking down No. 10 Northwestern 3-2 in a penalty stroke-off before downing Michigan State 3-2 in regulation.

In the Polls
• The Cardinal checked in at No. 13 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Preseason Poll this week - the 50th consecutive week it has remained in the top-20 rankings. Its preseason ranking of 11 is the second highest in program history.

Postseasons of Years Past
• Under head coach Tara Danielson, the Cardinal have gone to the NCAA Tournament five out of her six seasons
at the helm.

Take Us to the River...Hawks
• There's a first looming ahead for the Cardinal as it takes on the fourth seed from the East Division for the first time in program history.

Let's Talk Sibling AND Rivalry
• Rivalry games are always intense, especially between Cal and Stanford. This year the Cardinal has kicked it up a notch, topping the Bears twice to knot the all-time series at 52-52...for the first time since 2002... when most of the current Cardinal were around four-eight years old.

Per usual under Danielson it's been mostly Cardinal dominance - she's 14-3 all-time against the Bay Area rivals. Including a thrilling 3-2 win in a shootout this year in Stanford's first game at Underhill Field on October 7 before a 2-0 win at home on Senior Day on Pac-12 Networks.

Remember that sibling part? Rookie Nina Randolph will look to make it 3-0 over sister Zoe - a redshirt sophomore defender for the Bears.

Payback is a...Black Bear
• The Cardinal doesn't have a storied history with Maine, but they do have one meeting in the America East Tournament from last year when Maine took a 2-1 win in overtime. Danielson won her one other match up against Maine in 2014 1-0.

A Look Back to 2015
• No. 13 Stanford advanced to the semifinals of its first America East Tournament topping Vermont 5-2 before falling 2-1 (OT) to No. 17 Maine. In addition, the Cardinal advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history. The Cardinal was defeated by No. 6 Duke 1-0 in OT.
