Two More At Home

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 16 Stanford wraps up its homestand this weekend, hosting Fresno State and No. 31 Texas in a pair of matches at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal (5-1) first welcomes Fresno State (3-4) on Friday at 1:30 p.m. before Texas (4-3) visits The Farm on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Stanford jumped nine spots in the rankings following its 4-3 victory over No. 7 Vanderbilt on Sunday. It was the second victory over a top-10 foe this season for the Cardinal, which dropped a 4-1 loss at No. 1 Florida in its only other contest against a ranked opponent.

This weekend's matches also serve as a tune-up before Stanford begins Pac-12 play at UCLA next weekend.

Stanford boasts ranked players at all six positions of its singles lineup, led by eighth-ranked Melissa Lord (14-1 overall, 5-0 duals) despite the sophomore typically competing at the No. 3 spot. Freshman Emma Higuchi (16-3 overall, 5-0 duals) remains the overall leader in victories while fellow rookie Emily Arbuthnott (10-2 overall, 4-0 duals) is riding a seven-match winning streak, including last week's clincher against Vanderbilt.

The Cardinal has claimed the doubles point in four of its six matches this season. The tandem of Caroline Doyle and Lord is ranked No. 39 in the nation, having compiled a 7-3 overall record while remaining unbeaten in four duals.
