Women's Golf

Off To Tucson

STANFORD, Calif. -- The No. 3 Stanford women's golf team concludes regular season play next week in the Pac-12 Championships at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona. Eleven teams will participate in the 54-hole event, Monday through Wednesday.

Stanford is a two-time winner, claiming titles in 2014 and 1999.

The Cardinal is coming off an impressive nine-stroke victory two weeks ago at the Silverado Showdown at Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, California. The squad produced a program-record best 12-under performance in the second round in which all five players broke par for the first time in school history. The 16-under final total of 848 was the lowest 54-hole score ever recorded on a par-72 course by Stanford.

Four players finished in the top 20 individually, led by freshman Andrea Lee (third) and senior Casey Danielson (tied for fourth).

It marked the fourth full-field triumph on the season, matching a program record established in 2015, and was the fifth overall counting the four-team East Lake Cup last November.

The Course

• Located at the Casino Del Sol Resort and owned by the Pascua-Yaqui Tribe, Sewailo was designed by former Stanford men's All-American golfer Notah Begay III and means "the land where flowers grow." The course features rolling terrain, spacious fairways and large greens, including a massive double-green shared by the first and eighth holes, a tribute to the Old Course at St. Andrews, one of Begay's favorite layouts. Water hazards and nearly 70 bunkers are strategically placed throughout in the floral and desert setting.

The Field

• The 11-team field includes No. 2 ASU, No. 3 Stanford, No. 5 UCLA, No. 10 USC, No. 13 Arizona, No. 22 Cal, No. 26 Colorado, No. 41 Oregon, No. 53 Washington, No. 57 Oregon State, No. 62 Washington State.

The Format

• The 54-hole tournament features 18 holes all three days. The top four-out-of-five scores each day will be used to determine team totals. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. PT each day on the first and 10th holes. Stanford will play with Arizona on Monday with times running from 8:40 a.m. to 9:12 a.m. off the first tee.

Also finishing in the top 10 were senior Casey Danielson (t-4) and freshmen Madie Chou (t-8) and Albane Valenzuela (t-8).
