Davidson Honored

STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Tierna Davidson was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference.

Davidson started Stanford's only match of the week, a 1-0 win over No. 22 on Friday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. She finished the game with two shots, and played a large role in keeping Cal's leading scorer Abi Kim quiet.

Since Stanford's 3-2 loss at No. 8 Florida on Aug. 25, Davidson has started every game alongside Alana Cook at center back. During that span, Stanford is 16-0-0 with three goals allowed, including just one from open play (at USC, Oct. 29).

On the season, Stanford ranks second in the nation in shutout percentage (0.789) and fourth in goals-against average (0.316). A member of last season's Pac-12 All-Freshman team, Davidson has two goals and four assists on the season for the top-ranked Cardinal.

No. 1-seeded Stanford plays host to Utah Valley on Saturday night in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT, and tickets are on sale at GoStanford.com.
