STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Justin Martin (Calbassas, CA/El Camino Real HS) and junior Joe Inglett (Citrus Heights, CA/Mesa Verde HS) had three hits and two RBI apiece to lead Nevada (11-6) to a 7-4 non-conference win over host Stanford (12-6) on Tuesday afternoon at Sunken Diamond.

The sixth-ranked Cardinal opens Pacific-10 Conference play this weekend against No. 9 Arizona State at Sunken Diamond. The Cardinal and Sun Devils meet on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. The Wolf Pack returns home for a three-game weekend series against Santa Clara at Peccole Park (Friday @ 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday @ 1 p.m.).

Nevada got on the board first with a run in the fourth, and then broke the game open with five two-out runs in the fifth. Martin led the way with a two-run double, while Inglett and senior Lyle Overbay (Centralia, WA/Centralia HS) followed with RBI singles.

The Wolf Pack added a run in the seventh to make it 7-0, but the Cardinal stormed back with four two-out runs in the eighth. Junior John Gall (Portola Valley, CA/St. Francis HS) put the Cardinal on the board with a two-run single, while junior Jeff Rizzo (San Diego, CA/La Jolla HS) added another two-run base hit three batters later. The Cardinal eventually brought the tying run to the plate in the inning, but Wolf Pack reliever Luke Drakulich (Reno, NV/Galena HS) got out of the jam and then retired Stanford in order in the ninth. Nevada starter Ryan Church (Lompoc, CA/Lompoc HS) improved to 1-1 on the season by throwing 6.0 scoreless innings. He allowed six hits, while striking out two and not walking a batter.

Juniors Damien Alvarado (Sacramento, CA/Jesuit HS) and Gall led the way for Stanford with three hits apiece. The Cardinal out hit the Wolf Pack 12-9. Sophomore left-hander Brad Drew (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada/Waterloo Collegiate Inst.) took the loss in relief to fall to 1-2.
