POWAY, Calif. - Sophomore Jenni Shideler hit a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to help lead Stanford to a 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara at the Campbell/Cartier Classic. With the victory, Stanford, ranked 14th in the NFCA Poll, improves to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the tournament while UCSB drops to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in the tournament.
The home run for Shideler was the second game-winning home run of her career. Last season, she hit a home run against #3 Washington (Apr. 25) to help clinch that 1-0 victry.
On the mound, Stanford was led by senior Becky Blevins, who received the win. Blevins (4-1) scattered five hits over seven innings and struck out nine as she tossed the 28th shutout of her career.
