TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 5 Stanford Cardinal snapped No. 56 Arizona's three-match winning streak on Friday with a 6-0 victory Friday at the Robson Tennis Center. With the victory, the Cardinal remain undefeated in league play with a 5-0 record in the Pac-10 and a 19-2 record overall. The Wildcats fell to 7-11 overall and 3-8 in the Pac-10. The Cardinal only dropped one set in the match. That dropped set came at the No. 4 position where Cardinal Lauren Kalvaria defeated Arizona sophomore Joanna Buczkowska, 1-6, 6-1, 7-5. There was no doubles play for today's match.
In other singles action, freshman Lindsay Blau of Arizona fell to the No. 2 ranked player in the nation, Marissa Irvin, 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 1 position. Playing at the No. 2 position, senior Monique Allegre was defeated by No. 5 ranked Teryn Ashley of Stanford, 6-1, 6-0. Cardinal Gabriela Lastra (ranked No. 81), was victorious in her match with Wildcat sophomore Michelle Gough, 6-1, 7-6 at the No. 3 position. At the No. 5 position, Cardinal Jennifer Heiser defeated Arizona junior Vanessa Abel, 6-3, 6-4. Keiko Tokuda of Stanford outlasted freshman Carly Stringer of Arizona, 6-1, 6-3.
Arizona will be back in action tomorrow as they host No. 7 Cal at the Robson Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
