STANFORD, Calif. - No. 5 Pepperdine proved to be too much for the ninth-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team as the Waves won easily, 15-7, 15-0, 15-12 Saturday night at the Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
Four players posted double figures in kills for Pepperdine, led by George Roumain with 27. He played despite a hyperextended right thumb.
Gabe Gardner led Stanford with 18 kills, follwed by Patrick Klein with 16 and Brett Youngberg with 10. The Cardinal was outblocked 11-6 on the night.
Stanford falls to 4-6 overall, 3-6 in the MPSF. Pepperdine improves to 11-1, 8-1 in league action.
The Cardinal returns home to host USC and Long Beach State Feb. 25 and 26, respectively. Both of those matches will begin at 7 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
